I love trying new beauty products. Whether its makeup, hair products, skincare or haircare I’m always changing up what I use because there’s just so much out there! Over the past few months I’ve built up quite a large collection of new additions. These are my latest loves…
This nourishing banana hair mask from the body shop is absolutely wondrous. I’m not usually too keen on banana scented things but OMG this stuff smells insane – almost like super sweet banana bread. I got this for my birthday from my family and I’ve been obsessed with using it since then. Because my hair is bleached, it’s very dry and breakable which isn’t ideal. This mask is great because it’s super moisturising and it makes my hair feel so soft and nourished. It’s also 100% vegan and cruelty-free which is amazing! If your hair is damaged and/or colour treated I couldn’t recommend this more.
Usually I use a cleanser to remove my makeup, but since we’re doing everything we can to reduce our water usage here in Cape Town, I’ve switched to face wipes. I know they’re not the best for your skin, but they do the job. I’ve tried quite a few brands but these Vitamin E ones are by far my favourite – largely because they’re biodegradable. Aside from being a little more eco-friendly, they also smell amazing and they do a great job at getting rid of makeup without hurting my sensitive skin. They’ve become a drought essential for me.
Speaking about drought essentials, I rely SO heavily on this Batiste dry shampoo – it’s seriously amazing. This product makes my hair last for about three/four days, meaning that I only need to wash my hair twice a week – such a game changer for someone who used to wash their hair every day! There are lots of dry shampoos on the market, but this one is definitely my favourite. There are a variety of scents so you don’t get bored, it works amazingly well and it’s also vegan and cruelty-free.
I didn’t know it was possible to love a hairbrush as much as I love this thing. As I mentioned, my hair is pretty damaged – no matter how much conditioner I slather on, I still step out of the shower with matted hair. Before this brush, I would spend about 10 minutes detangling my wet hair, breaking a lot of it in the process. This magic brush makes untangling my hair so much quicker and far less painful. There are a ton of different colours and patterns to choose from and even different brush options as well. I have my eyes on the larger hairbrush and the paddle brush.
I originally discovered the Hask range when I was on the lookout for a natural, cruelty-free shampoo and conditioner that would be good for damaged and coloured hair. The brand has a large selection of hair products that use a variety of natural oils and ingredients to offer different benefits. They all smell amazing and the products that I’ve tried really do agree with my hair. I think I’ll be sticking with this brand for a while! My favourites so far are definitely the keratin smoothing shampoo and conditioner.
When I was in London at the beginning of the year, I couldn’t help but pick up these little mini Zoella body mists. They’re so pretty and cute and I’m a tad obsessed with them all… I’ve been wearing them non-stop since I got them! Unfortunately they’re not available in SA yet (annoying I know), but I just had to mention them because they’re so adorable. I know some UK stockists do offer international shipping, so you can get your hands on them if you’re desperate!
